I have learned that Terry Brooks has written something like 33 books in the Shannara mythos, & Sword of Shannara is chronologically #11. When Sword came out in the 70s I thought it was just a rip-off of LOTR & didn't really love it.
But I'm giving them another go, reading in chronological order.
