Despite being vaccinated, my entire family got this year's particularly nasty strain of flu A last week. Us younger folks were miserable for ~3 days, though my mom (in her 70s) ended up in the ER with pneumonia (she is now recovering slowly.)
Without a vaccine, it would have been even worse.
