In January 1894, young Johann Kuehberger was playing alongside the River Inn in Passau, Germany when he saw a small boy fallen into the icy river and drowning. Johann plunged in himself and saved the child. The local paper wrote him up as a hero. The boy he saved was 4-year-old Adolf Hitler.
