Eos' name was not originally Eos. They chose that name when they arrived at the surface. Eos comes from the Greek Titaness of the Dawn, and I imagine that Eos first surfaced around dawn, and was awed by the sun and the moon in the sky. Thus, they took Eos as their— (1/2)
