The Irish Elk was a giant deer that roamed Ireland thousands of years ago. One of the largest deer that has ever lived, its antlers could span up to 3.5m. It is thought the species went extinct in Ireland due to changing climate at the end of the last Ice Age around 11,000 years ago.
