A palavra que eu estava na cabeça aparentemente era "parlay", que vem do francês "paroli", que em português sobrevive como "parolar". Segundo o Dicio, parolar é basicamente conversar, mas acho que vou usar essa palavra mesmo assim. (Curiosidade: parola e parábola tem a mesma origem etimológica.)
