Basically: they had a program for free lootboxes for 10 years. If you play well, you get a lootbox. If you aren't toxic, you get a key for said lootbox.
Lootbox would give you cosmetics. Usually crap, sometimes good shit.
Riot removed these free loot boxes because "people were happy with free stuff"
